“Irish Ballad – Third Class”

"The flickering light of the kerosene lamps wavered in time with the ship's rolling and cast long shadows on the metal walls of third class. The air smelled of salt, coal and cardboard suitcases, but in the girls' eyes shone a different light: that of the future – or perhaps just the unwavering hope of the Irish."

Irish girls on their way to America

Young women, full of hope and dreams, yearn for freedom, economic independence, and renewed joy in life. They leave their homeland for America, leaving the past behind and opening themselves to the unknown. Aware of the great changes that await them, perhaps bright, perhaps uncertain, they bravely decide to travel and follow the American Dream as the promise of a new future.

“At the harbor”

Patrick O'Donnell and his friends, young Irishmen from the rural areas around Kilkenny, left their homeland with a big dream: to reach America and build a better life for themselves. After days of travel, marked by ferries, overcrowded trains and muddy roads, they reached England and the port of Southampton, from where the legendary ocean liner RMS Titanic was to begin its voyage.

She has found love

Rose, a young woman traveling to America in search of a new life, sets off with a heart full of fears and inner turmoil. But what she fears seems to slowly dissolve, like mist over the sea. On her unexpected journey, she finds something stronger than any fear: love… Sean.

Everyone is emigrating to America.

Families, young people, and the elderly are united by the hope for a better world and a brighter future. With light suitcases and heavy hearts, they leave their homes behind. On the ships crossing the ocean, languages, prayers, and expectant glances mingle. It is a journey into the unknown – but also the promise of a new life where dreams can come true.

The souls

The souls represent the remembrance and commemoration of all those who lost their lives in the tragedy. They are a silent, symbolic presence that preserves the memory of those who did not survive and transforms the pain into an eternal act of remembrance and respect.
